    Lowering rear in a 1969

Any way to lower the rear in a 69 besides lowering leaf springs? I installed HD rear springs during the build but now that it is ready to roll, I want to drop the rear and front an inch. Already installed 620 springs in front. Will lowering blocks work on a non stock, higher horsepower car?

Lowering blocks should work fine, although it will make spring wrap more of an issue under power. If your using a traction device, like Caltrac bars, it will be fine.

Is there a source for the u-bolts which will need to be quite a bit longer than a mustang to deal with all the other stuff clamping down on the Cougar springs?

A better way to do this is to have the springs re - arched. Every major city has a shop that works on leaf springs for big trucks. Cost is very reasonable, results are exactly what you want. Example: "I want my car to sit 2" lower than it does now". They will disassemble and re shape your springs so it does exactly that.

Typically, the same spring shop described by Royce can provide you with custom length U-bolts.
Take them your old ones and tell them how much longer you need and they will bend them for you to match your axle diameter.
