Thanks Sal. Let me have a chance to check the database on these and I'll post the status, e.g. new, reported on ?, etc.

Sal -- All three are already in the database, but we really appreciate your thinking of us with regard to them. 0F92H546286 - reported 4/1/07 with a vin submission to the cougar club website; 0F91H563437 -- reported 7/1/02 by Gary Koeh, Odessa, TX; 1F93M526797 -- reported 1/1/10 from Hamberg, PA.

    New VIN to report

    VIN 8F91F576725 trim 2A, Color D, DSO 51, Date 13F
    1968 302, C-4, 8" rearend. PS, MB
Problem that I need help on, have the door tag in place and fender stamping in tack, but I have to dash VIN tag. Dash was dust and thrown away 10 years ago by owner.
This is a one owner Cougar rescued from Utah and only has 55K miles on it. Time to get her cleaned up and start working on her.

Dash VIN tag is on the passenger side in 1968. Is it covered up by the dash pad?

dacoda -- Let's see if I've got this right -- you have no dash tag because the dash was thrown away? I suspect you mean the dashpad was thrown away? The dash vin tag is attached to the metal dash structure and would have had to be unfastened purposely, which is hard, if not impossible to do, with the windshield it the car. Are you sure the dash tag itself isn't still there pressed up against the glass?

Very sure. The owner, removed the windshield and broke it so he threw it away. Then threw the dashpad away too. You can see where the tag was attached to the metal part of the dash. Under which fender is the VIN stamped. I can probably use that for DMV titling since that's the better one anyway.

    Thank You
Do you know where the VIN is under which fender? I've done Stangs and I know the Merc has to have it on the body somewhere. I'm thinking the same locations.

On a '68 the easiest one to see is near the notch in the inner fender lip on the driavers' side. It is also under the entire fender lip on the passenger side, but you'd need to remove the fender to read it.

You can cut a dash out like this, in which case the VIN Tag Could also disappear. This is probably what dacofa is talking about. 1968 was the 1st year of the Dash VIN Plate, 69 moved it to the LH Side. they were Riveted on from the Factory.

The 1st place DMV will look is your Dash, because that is what they are used to. Most New cars don't have the Apron Vin.

I looked and didn't see it. Pictures for everyone to help with this one.
