    Good thought on the Jag.
I have since wondered about swapping in a Cobra F+R susp
or from a Tbird SC or Cougar XR7 for rear independent.
It may be a cheaper way to go.
Keep us informed on your progress.

I really like the no shock towers. For guys who would like to keep the towers the fatman option comes to mind. He uses the sn95 and up ford suspension. Again a production suspension in a similar weight vehicle. Easy to get parts for and a lot of engineering

Well the cowl is back on. What a pain to weld up all those spot welds and grind them down. It looks good though. That is a painful job. A little more firewall work and prime the cowl and it's ready to put back togethere!!!!!!!!!!1. I also ordered the ball joints and bushings and some brake pads. That was an expensive bill $400. The rear $600. This was a costly week.

I can't believe it's been over two years since I made a post! I have done a few things on the car. The motor is detailed (dusty it's been months since it was freshened). The rear was rebuilt before. Both Corvette hubs were rebuilt. All new U-joints in the rear. The front suspension is almost all done. The rack is being repaired now and is the only item left. The front end has new ball joints and tie rods ends and urethane bushings. I will put a new heavy duty sway bar later. Right now I don't want to lay out the cash. I just want to get it to the driving point. So I can back it in and out of the garage! I will take it off the rotisserie on the weekend of the 19th. I'm working this weekend. I plan on installing the engine tranny and rear that weekend

    At least your back!

Interesting Cougar, when you get it done you will have to show it at the
All Ford Nationals in Carslise PA. I would like to see it.
Don't feel bad about the time taken, at least you held on to it all these years, life has a way of pointing our priorities and directions.
I took my car apart in late 1999 and got it back on the road in early spring of 2008.
There were times I had to walk away from it, sometimes for money, sometimes to maintain my sanity or just waiting for the promised back ordered parts.
Doing a major rebuild to a car at times can seem like a 12 round fight with George Foreman.
At times you will need to step back,
but mostly you just need to KEEP PUNCHING.
    keep the pics coming.

I will take some more pics this week. I took it off the rotisserie. That actually was a bit of work! I then was able to install the rear end. The rear end is rebuilt. The half shafts have all new U-joints installed and both axle hubs are rebuilt. Basically everything in the car is new or rebuilt.
I also have been looking for parts from storage around the barn. My machinist has the steering rack from the Jag. He and I took it apart and he is going to rebuild it. The seals were leaking. That will be the last of the front end components that need work. Everything else was blasted and coated. The calipers are rebuilt.
I'm working for a few days now and won't be able to do much. But will be at it again this sunday for 1/2 day. I'm working sat. I have a Cobra replicar to work on as well but I really want this car running. The engine/tranny has to go on in next.

    Nice work.

Where does one go to get some of those re-useable SS exhaust pipe clamps?

BTW, I like the E-Brake setup. What are you doing about a fuel tank? A cell will go in the trunk I'm guessing?

I really appreciate all the compliments. I posted a link on another website that I visit frequently to this page. The guys there have been positive as well. I was feeling a little burnt on this project a few weeks ago. I have another surge of energy. Anyone who has had a car for as long as I have that isn't finished probably knows what I mean. It hasn't run in 17 years! Hopefully this weekend it will start

    To answer the questions:
The brake system was from http://einstyn.com/einstyn-chevelle-parts.htm
Of course it didn't fit correctly the mounting bracket needed to be cut and rewelded and the bushing (spacers) changed. Other than that it works fine. I used an E-brake from a fox body mustang behind the Megashifter. The stock e-brake pedal hit the roll bar. The cable was from Lokar.
    The clamps are from: http://www.stainlessworks.net/cart/i...ath=95_367_143
As per the usual they are nice but extremely expensive. I have a small fortune in the exhaust. I wanted the exhaust to be easy to work on and easily broken down. The clamps help. The 3 inch slip fit kit i bought was expensive but it did the job. I got the exhaust out the back. I didn't want a side exhaust
The fuel tank is an alum old diesel tank we cut down and fit in the trunk between the roll bars. The fuel system is 8AN braided out from the trunk to another small section and then 1/2 alum line all the way to the front of the car. It then goes into a regulator and from there it is 8AN ss to the Carb. I used to filters one after the tank and another right before the carb. The dang fuel system took me forever to figure out. Perhaps 8AN is big but I will NEVER need to upgrade!!!!!!!!1
