    Cool Battery cable length

I have a 1968 Cougar with a 289 cub in with a C4 auto. I need to replace my negative battery cable but I need to know what is the proper length of that negative cable. After looking at Rock Auto, NPD, NAPA, and other suppliers no one seems to know what the proper length is needed for my battery. I haven't been able to locate just this one cable on WCCC or any other Cougar sites.

The set of cables is quite reasonable. The ones from the auto part store do not have the right size bolt hole for the end that bolts to the block. With the 289 engine the standard size cables are all that you need. Summit Racing sells the set that fits properly made by Scott Drake.

    Re: Battery cable length

The Lincoln Mercury parts catalog indicates that the service replacement for the negative battery cable (C2RZ-14300-C) is 42" long, 4 gauge wire.
The later 1975 catalog calls out a cable (D1PZ-14300-J) that is 41" long.
