    Voltage drop?
67’, 289 HiPo Holley 4bl, aftermarket radiator, new belts (belt replacement life🤦‍♂&#xfe0f, new voltage regulator, and new voltage regulator pigtail. Increase wire gauge from alternator to 8gauge. Car dies when headlights come on, 14volts to less than 12 volts when in drive, applying brake, and turn signal on..... short. Anyone have wiring schematics that would help, or any ideas?

    Re: Voltage Drop

load test your battery and your charging system ... Your battery should have enough reserve power to keep your car running ... alternator should keep charging a good battery at 12.6 volts plus even at proper low idle in gear ..

    Re: Voltage Drop

The voltage sounds normal. The car dying is not. Maybe you have an inappropriate camshaft / torque converter combination? A HIPO 289 never came in a Cougar, so that needs some explanation too.
