group 24 vs group 27 battery tray

    Hello All,
Can anyone say what vehicles used the group 27 vs the group 24 battery tray? I assume it depended on the car, options ordered, engine size
Any other clues that would help determine the usage?
    thanks

I have a 1970 std with 351C 4V auto that came with the heavy duty battery option. I think all 428s csme as well but have zero personal knowledge. The book that's published by Marti i believe breaks this data down
1970 Std Coupe, owned since 1983
    was an M code 351C, FMX, 3:00 open, AC/PS/PB
Now: 418W, 622HP natural, 950 Holley, Super Victor, solid roller custom cam, AFR205's ported, C6,3.50TL
Best (old) ET all motor: 11.24 @ 119.5
    Best mph all motor: 120.5
    7.13 @ 96.5 1/8mi, 1.54 60' time

Your Marti Report would tell if the car had that option originally. The HD battery option would have been part of the Air Conditioning option if the car had factory AC, or it could have been added as a stand alone option without AC (less likely but possible).
