    351w longtube headers in a 1968

    Hello all,

I purchased 1 5/8 long tube headers for my 1968 cougar when it was a 302. It is now a 351w stroker(408). Will the 1 5/8 be too small for the 408? if so can anyone inform me of the most affordable 1 3/4 longube headers that will fit in a 1968 with power steering and A/C. im looking for least expensive possible.

Thank you for your knowledge and advice in advance

    Jason

The 351 locates the headers higher and closer to the shock towers than a 302, so you may have fitment issues with those headers which were designed for a 302. 1 5/8" is on the smaller side for a 408, but will produce great torque, while giving up some horsepower.
