  1. If you really like the '68, here's some additional info for you. Dave Wywras and I were at a show this morning, so I asked him about the owner, Matt. He knows Matt and described him as a straight shooter. Dave doesn't know the car so he couldn't comment on that, but you should have no concerns about Matt as a seller. What I suggest doing is call him and ask him to send you additional photos of the areas you'd like to see better. His '68 is a nice color combo that you don't see very often and it is a J-code, so it's a factory 4-barrel. If it's as nice as it appears, $12.5K is a very good price. And Matt apparently knows good cars when he sees them. His competition orange Eliminator is a Boss Eliminator while the blue one up on the lift is an R-code Eliminator. I'd hate to see you pass up a car you really like if the only negative is distance. I've bought cars from Colorado, Texas, and Oregon based on forum member inspections. For BBCat, I just did a wire transfer.

Don't look at it for me just yet. I'm also going to ask my bank about long distance transactions too this week. I don't think the cougar will sell on ebay. Not much is lately. This 70 is an hour north of me. She's got some good nicks from the road and a scratch on the drivers fender. I've sent the guy three emails this week and he hasn't replied. He left no phone number. I may post it under the "For Sale" section to see if anyone on the forum knows the owner. Thanks

Many thanks for offering to help. I am currently trying to inspect a 70 that went up for sale an hour north of me just this week. The seller left his email address on Craigslist but I have not heard back from him. The 68 is MA. is the furthest and most expensive of the three that I'm interested in. It's also the most problematic as far as retrieving. The wife has said no to a cross country trek over the 4th of July week vacation. Mainly because it's well over 40 hours of driving. I'm not big on sending someone a check for 12 thousand and hoping they put my car on a transport. I've heard all sorts of horror stories about getting ripped off. That's why I started this thread. I knew the inspection would be the easy part to solve but the retrieval is still something I haven't figured out. If I need your assistance down the road, I'll let you know. I 'll also get your address so I can treat you and the wife out to dinner for your trouble. Again, Thanks.
  4. Jody, I'd love pictures and info for the page. Thanks!

Bill, having discovered much more rust under the vinyl top on my 68 I have decided the time has come to take the roof off completely. I've done a convertible conversion before so I know what I'm getting into, but that project involved a custom made top. Do the Mustang top kits come with enough canvas to accommodate the extra rake you added to the roofline or did you have to have a custom top made? I'm trying to get an idea of what costs I should plan for.

Hey, I just saw your avatar for the 68 vert. Is there a story on the forum about it and some better pics? I ALWAYS thought the 67-78 Cougars would have made stunning convertibles!!! There's a missed opportunity!
  9. CatVert hasn't been sold yet. I haven't started really marketing it yet. That will come toward the end of January. I never did hear from PointX with any further information. Good luck with your restorationl; I'll be looking forward to seeing the end result!

    Regards,
    Bill

Hi Bill, I read your vert is up for sale or is it sold already. it sure looks good from your photos. You may have seen my posts today as I am finally getting time to start disassembly to restore my vert you looked at last year. I am checking on the orginal drivetrain, just to be positive. I was wondering if you ever heard from the owner in Florida who contacted you, I believe point x, as I did message but never received any response. Anyway I do hope you and yours will be blessed this coming year. kevind
