Just in case you all missed this link on the 'Liability' post.
I'm still trying to sift through all the posts, however I think you guys should all try and look thru some of it. Two links, one is the original posting by the tech.
The other one is the amazing amount of support she is getting.
Go Girl Go.

Okay I just have to say this, please don't blast me anyone, remember I am not American, I am not pro-Bush, I am not anti-Bush, hell I see more of the guy than you proberly do, I go to sleep to CNN every night, but........
Looking at the amazing amount of support Tracey has had over the internet, don't you think that GW would have more luck with his "War on Iraq" if he posted a message on a forum:D

sixt9coug was on and mentioned he was from here, I also went on and mentioned that I heard about it from here, so in a way we are represented. Alot is being said about people going overboard with the responses, it was'nt like her car was totalled or anything, but I personally think that if the guy was stupid enough to make so many details known, the colour of her car, the make, and the license plate, plus the big boast the he is the mustang specialist etc then he deserved all he got, its not the fact that it happened to Her, its the fact that it happened at all, I think most of the response is against guys who think they can do what they want with a customers car. I used to work for a garage years ago and no-one was allowed to drive a customer's car, only the boss, when the job was done and he would take it for a test run, not a tyrescreeching run, just a ride round the block, our reputation depended on what the public saw, the world is a small place, you never know who could see you burning it up in a car, the internet has made it even smaller, that guy was a class idiot to think the story would not get back to the original owner.

Well, to be honest I would mind. I mean, c'mon it's not the end of the world or anything.
This tech clearly showed a lack of professionalism, but nothing happened or anything. So the worst case scenario is there is some wear on the engine, okay that can be repaired and all.
The main thing is I guess that people think, if in a similar situation, would feel powerless. Like when burglared or something. No need to send condolences or anything, c'mon?!
No need for the world to stand as one behind Tracy and Todd is there? There's many many people in the world experiencing far worse things than someone planting a leadfoot on their gaspedal whithout permission.
There's millions of people without food and not much to live on but almost nobody in the civilized world (god, I hate that expression for it is sooooo wrong...) who cares the least bit. We just silence our consciense by donating some money to charity.
But oh no, when some reckless young kid finds himself in the opportunity to do something many people dream of (I'm not backing him up for it is not part of his job and he was violating the customers trust and all) and doesn't control himself, all the world is suddenly shocked and terrified and feels the urge to express their feelings of compassion.
Why? Because it might happen to ourselves too.
Hypocrites we are (I say we, for I am no better, although I don't donate to charity for thay have millions of cash in stocks instead of doing good with it..).
Therefor I would appreciate it if anyone feels the need to send "our" condolences on the behalf of the mercurycougar.net forum to explicitly state the Matthijs Nicolai doesn't agree.
I'm not gonna check on it or anything, just needed to vent how I feel about it.
Must say it is funny to see domestics and ricers and all other motorvehicle lover to unite on something.

Cheers!
Matthijs

Just did'nt want to offend anyone by saying anything bad about your President . Politics and I do not agree, whenever it comes up I normally leave having made a few enemies, so did not want the same thing to happen here. I have no idea how into politics you guys are, whether you support the war on Iraq, or whether you think that maybe GWB is doing all this on his own or Daddy's agenda. Is it his father that is pushing him? Were the elections rigged? Is it about the safety of the people or oil? Bearing in mind that here our politicians are as corrupt as hell, anything they do is viewed with a jaundiced eye, they have stolen millions of rands from the poor, and believe me we have poor, any big deal is sure to benefit someone in power, nepotism is alive and well and qualifications are of little importance. The sad thing is that we are no longer shocked by anything. The big scandal you guys had over Bill and Monica, if it happened here it would not have even made the newspapers. Foreign countries give millions to aid the needy, it gets stolen, so whats new? Very sad state of affairs, this world we live in.

Matthijs, I still say that if that twit had not posted such a stupid post on that forum none of this would have happened, its the way he said it that got everyone upset. Plus its the principle of the matter, not whose car is involved, just the fact that peoples cars get messed around by idiots. A baby gets raped in this country daily, pity there is not such a huge outcry over something like that here, the guys involved are given bail of like $15 and released almost the same day they are caught. Sick Sick world.

I'm with you all the way on the stupidity of the tech to post it and I feel ashamed of guys like that who talk about women like that. My experience is that the gals generally respond to situations far more sensible than guys do and should be cherished (especially the car loving ones!! Still looking for one of those myself  ). Now guys, don't start blaming me for bummkissing and all for that's just the type of thing I'm referring to :o
Besides that the fact that there's an idiot bragging about abusing someone else's car on the internet doesn't justify this pathetic load of responses.
Just my EUR 0.0196

About world politics:
I think GWB is a dangerous megalomaniac, who is destabilizing the entire world with his wargames, but I try not to follow it too closely anymore for it makes me depressed to see the world being wasted by a couple of big shots in such a high pace.
Worst thing of all is the scientist who are working on alternative ways for propulsion, rendering the good ol' rumbling V8 obsolete...

Cheers!

I know cougarguy, but I had to put that in for Don, it was too good to resist, I said that politics and I don't agree, its just that I see so much news about USA on CNN and others channels, and I never get to hear what the man of the streets opinion is, you know the folks with brains. If I had to write [snailmail] to someone and talk about it, it would be stale by the time my letter got there, can't phone anyone, I would be broke in a day, and its nice to just find out what people really think, you can't trust TV much for an honest opinion, however, as I know its a touchy subject I think it should end right here with my post.

So back to the start of this thread, is she getting all the sympathy or is this a general feeling of outrage. I think it has more to do with the ethics than the person involved [am I repeating myself here}. What I did find really cool was all the people that got involved, ricers, 4x4's, snowmobiles, bikers, DVD guys{????}, you name it, they posted, and I like the idea that one guy had of someone setting up a forum specifically for the this kind of thing, so if someone abuses your car you can post on that forum, and the other car forums can have a link to it, that should keep the dealers on their toes. I am sure there are plenty of horror stories out there that have'nt been heard. We bought a new Nissan bakkie [ldv, pickup] in '98, it started rusting within a week, there were fingerprints embedded in the paint. my Dad held on the door with too firm a grip and he actually dented it with his thumb, lots of thing wrong, going to the dealer did not help at all, eventually I e-mailed the headoffice, dissing their slogan,
"Lifes a journey, enjoy the ride", I told them it should be "Lifes a journey, enjoy being taken for a ride", they e-mailed me back within 1/2 an hour and the dealer phoned me within an hour to bring the car in for a full check up, needless to say we did take it in, they fixed nothing and we just thought to hell with it. What I found so fascinating was their claim that the fan motor was blown, yet whenever we hit a bump it would work, eventually my hubby realigned the armiture and its worked ever since!!!!
I also hear they are going to do away with leaded petrol, whats my cougar going to run on then, and the ranchero and and and...

Don,

You wrote this to 72:

I'm am confused though 72. Why would anyone here blast you?

And Cougarguy said this to her:

When she said she wrote this for you, she meant, this is why she asked not to get "blasted":
