Trying to stay on the ball for September ~ only a few days late. I miss summertime already.

These listings are combed from popular sites (CraigsList, eBay, Hemmings, CarsOnLine, Kijiji, and others). As always, if you know of or have an Eliminator for sale please feel free to add it to the list. Or if you have any details or comments about an Eliminator listed here (or elsewhere) please feel free to pass along that info.

I've also linked this thread on CCC.com, here: http://www.classiccougarcommunity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3056

Ok, latest listing...

'70 w/351, auto. Comp orange, houndstooth interior. No docs mentioned. In Chicago, for $23k(?)
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/cto/4045363195.html

*Possibly a clone ~ hood scoop and rear spoiler are the wrong colors and the houndstooth doesn't look right (but the pics are not great), missing Eliminator script on the rear quarters, missing front spoiler.
On the plus side, it has the high back buckets, passenger mirror, the rock guard is blacked out (missed on alot of clones), right gas door cover, and no "Cougar" script on the rear quarters.

In Chicago, for $23k(?)On the plus side, it has the high back buckets
Or does he mean that it has 23,000 miles on the odometer? In the text of the ad it states "with 23K". All 70 Cougars received the high back bucket seats, standard, XR-7, Eliminator, it did not matter, they all had high back seats. Only in 69 are the high backs limited to the Eliminator package. All other 69s had low backs with headrests.

23,000 miles supposedly priced under $10,000 It is real but needs a ton of body work. Quarters floors torque boxes floor supports, frame rails questionable, trunk floors questionable, left fender, top surfaces heavy surface rust, Fender aprons so, so could be restored but would take a lottttt

#6 ·
Sorry, the "23k" was about as clear as the pictures... "miles? price? both?" LOL! Sounds like Travs either talked to the owner or knows the car.

I'm thinking about calling this afternoon to see about getting some better pics, a copy of the Marti, or a VIN. If I get anything I'll post it up "for posterity" :)

Mike, in your opinion, what would be a good price for the Pastel blue Boss cougar in its current condition? I know it has a replacement block and it will affect the value. looks to be complete other than that. Its only about 20 min. from where i live an im trying to set up a viewing. Looks like its currently around 19K on the auction. Weren't there only about 300 boss cougars made in 1970? Thanks!

#8 · (Edited)
Per Kevin Marti's data there were 469 B2 Eliminators built in 1970 of which 14 were Pastel Blue. They were all 4 speeds but 323 were close ratios as this one has. Price wise it is worth whatever a willing buyer and seller agree it is worth. Most of the hard to find Eliminator and B2 parts are there, except exhaust manifolds, heat shield, smog and a correct fuel pump.

#9 ·
I think it will go for 25-30K.....closer to 30K or maybe more if you get two hungry folks bidding
The green one in Tuscon went for 23,500 and it needed a lot more

#10 ·
Yeah, I'm betting with a little time and effort this one could be a driver :) Price? Hmm... there was a comp orange super drag pak car, good paint and body, replacement block (disassembled) that recently went for $30k. Not sure how complete it was, but it didn't appear to have any "body needs".

I'm gonna estimate in the $25k area... but it does have that "barn find" allure, so who knows.

I can't open eBay from here, but I don't think this yellow b2 cat bid up very high even though it looked good and clean.

'70 w/ Boss 302, 4-speed. Comp yellow, black interior. Marti report.

I just noticed the BOSS car (pastel blue) does not have P/B.......drum all the way around? I missed that looking at the Marti earlier..

#13 ·
I thought all Boss 302 cars had Power Disc Brakes as a standard item? Or was it different for the Boss Cougars?

So when you go to the pics and look everything over, can the more knowledgable point out the items still missing?
Also interesting that it is a non traction lock rear end car......just a regular open end rear.

#23 · (Edited)
One item(s) that struck me as oddly missing are the other seven pistons.

Noticed it has sport special rockers too. Selling those would help the budget for other parts. Looks like extra pedals and shifters / linkages, flasher relay module, extra gas door.

Missing exhaust manifolds, as well as smog items? Oil filter adapter? Front spoiler? Carpet (hee hee!), side mirrors, package tray, washer reservoir,
(I thought rear interior panels, but looks like one is in car and one is out). Gas cap (deal breaker!).

The car looks to have the correct side mirror on the drivers door, which is all it would have had from the factory. A mirror for the passenger door was not available for the 69s so the holes in that door should be welded shut, if the next owner is doing a 100 point resto that is. The other 7 pistons were probably in pieces, normal for a B2.

I would question the seats in the car. Only one photo gives a decent look at the rear seat but they look like 70 XR-7 seats to me. If I were considering buying this car (and I am not) I would ask for better photos of the seats. I would want to see the seat back releases and where they are located on the seat. 69 Eliminator seats are unique to 69 Eliminators and Mach Is. I would also be asking if the correct 69 decore style rear side panels are in there, the photos are of very little help showing those.

Also missing is the block off plate on the dash, reproductions are available. Missing the rev limiter too. That will cost you.

Good catch on the side mirrors, I saw the passenger one "missing" and forgot to look for the driver's mirror.

There is a Rev Limiter at the very bottom edge in one of pics of the parts pile, to the right of the chrome valve covers / below the cam. Might just be a dummy unit though.

I think the question that needs to be asked here is why is this car being resold and not restored? This seems to be right up his alley given the caliber of cars he owns and has had restored. It makes me think there's something wrong with it. Of course that may not be the case, but it would be nice to know for sure.

#27 ·
I missed seeing th4e rev limiter in the photos.

The seller kind of explains the reason for selling on the Boss 302 forum. He says that the direction of his collection is changing. And looking at his list of cars it looks like he is going after all black colored cars now. At least for his Ford products. Or that may not be the reason, I don't know.
