    Where to buy paint

From what I hear, I can only buy water borne paints here in the OC. I'm looking to re-clear the paint on my fairing and gas tank of my Harley and also want to paint the inner faring silver blue which is now black. Where can I order a quart of solvent based 2 stage paint with the clear and all of the activators on-line. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have had good luck with the Dupont acrylic enamels:

(I really like the Wet Look high gloss hardner)

I can buy them locally at the Shermin Williams Auto jobber...

I wonder if they would ship to Ca though?

TCP Global is in San Diego County so I would assume they know the current laws and penalties. You might just have to make a trip over to Nevada. That is what I would do being only 3.5 hours from the PPG stores in Reno.

However, I know Eastwood still ships solvent based paints as their operation in in New York. At least they did about two months ago.

Yes they do---- and yes they will. Another option is to call around to some of the other regional zones around yours to see what they can provide - Currently there are two (one west and one east of me - northern Ca) next to mine that can still provide most of the "bad" stuff

Should have mentioned that shops selling PPG still can sell some of the "bad" stuff to individuals for the time being. That means the color and possibly the clears. DPLF is out completely no matter what.

If you find a pintshop that carries the waterborne 90 series Glasurit paint, then when they are to mix the formula, tell them to use a clear as a binder instead of the waterborne M4 binder, and use 352-91 reducer to reduce it instead of the 93-E3 waterborne reducer, then you have a regular solvent based basecoat.

Hey Zoli, just get ahold of Steve Saavedra. I'm sure he can help you.

Thanks for the replies guys. I found an auto paint store here in South OC that still sells solvent based base coats. Apparently it's like tbm said. They will sell it to individuals but not to shops. That's good news. maybe I'll go ahead and buy the paints needed for my G car now before any supply issues come up with this mesed up state of our.
I'm telling you, soon our farts will be regulated and taxed here in So. Cal.

    Thanks guys.

Actually, from what I have heard, it is the EPA going from state to state to ban solvent based paints. Apparently it was easier to do this than do it for all 50 states at once. It was just California's turn these last three years. Now another state will be in the cross hairs for this change and so on down the line.
