    Welcome to the forum. Actually Cougars didn't come out till 1967. Can you post the VIN and door tag info.

    The first Cougar model year was 1967 but sales commenced on September 30, 1966

    There were 150,893 Cougars produced in the 1967 model year - which was the largest production year

    Of the approx 151,000 made for '67 yours was approximately the 9025th one built. I would guess that 12K date code was October of '66. Just curious, does your car have the windshield washer bag or the plastic bottle?

    There were just under 48,500 Cougars built in 1966. Mon January 3rd was the first production day of 1967.

    Well at least we know the first 9,025 had the washer bags.
    If you get a Marti report http://www.martiauto.com/ you could ask for the exact number.
