If I remember correctly Route 66 ends at the Santa Monica pier.

Just off the pier is a place called Johnnie's New York.
They wanted to have the best NY Pizza anywhere outside New York so they took NY water and had it analyzed and now have their own special NY water to make the dough.

They are located at 1444 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, CA 90401-2322

Some real good pizza there.. hmmm boy!

    Seligman

West Side Lolas in Seligman. Was voted one of the top spots for pie in the state. Had one of the best breakfasts in my life there also.

Will DEFINITELY be stopping there...all four of us pretty much live for pizza!

In Seligman, we'll probably have lunch at the Road Kill Cafe, and then dessert at Lola's!

Sounds like a good trip. If you have seen the movie "Cars", you will recognize quite a few landmarks along the way. The "Cozy Cones" are the Wigwams in Holbrook. The scenery around Seligman is also pretty reminiscent of the movie.

You won't be to far from Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona, both of those are worth a detour if you have the time. Walnut Canyon in Flagstaff is also good if you want to see indian ruins. You can also go to the "Standing on a Corner Park" in Winslow, AZ if you want to reminisce with the Eagles.

    One More Thing

Since you are going to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, stop at the Cameron Trading Post. It is an origianl Navajo Trading Post built on the banks of the Little Colorado River. Awesome Navajo Tacos, can also look at some of the local handicrafts. It is just a few miles past the turnoff to the south rim.

Rod's Steak house in Williams is a must. It's been there since the 40's. Great food great service, reasonable prices for a steak house.

In Kingman you will want to go to the DamBar steakhouse.

Sounds like it's going to be a hoot.

The Holbrook Wigwam motels last I heard have a Disney Cars theme.

There is really nothing to see at the Tiki Drive-In theater. I live within 3 miles of that. Just a outdoor movie theater, and junky swapmeet one day during the week.

The NHRA museum is pretty decent, plan a June 2, 2010 Wednesday late afternoon and you can do the museum and the Twilight Cruise. Free car show.

The Petersen Museum is worth your time too.

Take a look at some of the obscure and not so obscure Classic Cougar parts we have available, now with even more Ford part numbers.

WOW! It's gonna take an extra week just to see the places y'all have suggested! We're trying to do this trip in just three weeks, but with all the cool stops along the way, it looks like that's not gonna be possible.

We're all getting together at the Speedway in Daytona in a few weeks for the Turkey Run. I'm sure I'll have more info for everyone after that weekend.

Very close, Leon. But on the return trip, we'll be coming across I-40 instead of I-10. Two reasons: One, we'll still be relatively close to Route 66 in case we miss anything on the trip out, and two, there's a BBQ place (Sim's BBQ) in Little Rock that's about as good as BBQ can be!

From there, we'll head down to Montgomery, Alabama, then to Lake City, Florida. From there, it's a short ride home.
