    Borgeson Integrated Power Steering Gearbox

I found this on the Stangnet forum:

Borgeson just announced their new integrated PS steering box on this forum (Stangnet.com) a few days ago. The MSRP of their product is $549, but dealers may be selling it cheaper. If you can find the thread, it has some good Q&A, one of which was about whether or not they used the older Toyota boxes and the answer was no. Here's the link to their product: https://www.borgeson.com/catalog2/in...e2dd1680fd32c4

From Borgeson: It's NOT a Toyota Cressida box, the core we are using is from newer vehicles. Correct, the case is machined and then an adapter plate welded to it however the sector shaft is also re-machined to fit either the 1" or 1-1/8" Mustang pitman arms. Box is completely disassembled cleaned, machined, welded, re-machined internally after welding, sector shaft is then machined to the appropriate size. Box is then painted, reassembled with new seals and bearings then tested.

The entire thread is here: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...ering-box.html

Another link to the "intro" of the conversion box by Borgeson: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...g-product.html

I've been looking at this for header space and to get rid of the slave.

    http://www.mercurycougar.net/forums/...ad.php?t=44066

    $550 for the box
    $300 for the Saginal pump
    $75 for hoses
    $100 for drag link
    $80 1/2 rag joint

With all the small block 67/68 hose routing problems I'm surprised this topic doesn't generate more interest.

Word is it is from a Isuzu. They welded on thier own bracket so it lines up with the frame rail holes. Who out there would put a Japanese car part on their old American Muscle?

Since I am a diehard manual trans guy, I'll keep the OEM setup. Even if I wasn't, I would keep the OEM setup, but that's just me. If you get the OEM setup right and with the right hoses, they are no problem at all. Always good to see additional choices for our cars though. Thanks.

I spent some time talking to these folks when I was at SEMA. Wondering if there is any feedback from those who have successfully installed it? Anyone tried using a stock Ford PS pump?

Does a stock Ford PS pump from an 88 T-Bird count?

Later pumps (Plastic-bodied, I presume) probably work better than our old stock ones for this application.

Has anyone installed this box? I imagine this would be more reliable than the stock setup. I am rethinking my manual conversion and this setup would be close to the same cost as rebuilding the stock stuff.

Do the ps hoses just follow the shock tower? I wonder how close to the headers they would run...
