    Twin Turbo powered '67 Cougar

Not a turbocharged engine but actually twin gas turbine engines connected directly to the rear axle! This is Pegasus II, a Cougar exhibition drag car powered by Korean War surplus gas turbine engines connected to the rear axle. Scroll halfway down the page:

    Never saw this one before.
But an interesting book could be made including all the most rare and neat Cougars ever made by both the factory and rank and file.
many books have been written on the Cougar but none are completely up to date. Most don't include this "turbo" cougar, info on the "JBOHMSS" Cougars, the exotic drag cougars, trans am, special production, one of a kind, Henry Ford's personnal Cougar, RMS Cougars, Cougar 500's, Holman and Moody, Cougars in film and movies, etc.
We need a comprehensive, all-inclusive book on the complete history to date of the Mercury Cougar.
    So let's get crackin'.

I remember in Hot Rod Mag they raced the go kart against a dragster and it beat the dragster.

The picture is on Gallery 4 of the link. Shows the go-kart stepping out on the Dragster.

I thought that the turbo engine was a hydrogen-peroxide turbine....or something like that.

They also offered one that fit on your rear axle. It added a second pinion gear and you could "light it off" with the car in neutral for a real thrill ride.

Boy, am I showing my age !!!!!
