Classiccougar.net Website
All,
I was made aware of www.classiccougar.net last month, a site dedicated to the classic cougar just as this site is. The site is owned and operated by Ray Harwood.
While Ray and a few folks, apparently friends of his couldn't seem to get along with the folks here at mc.net, stuff like that happens from time to time.
What's interesting is there's now a new website out there for the classic cougar fans, and that's what is important.
So, to save them the trouble of abusing the private message system on this site to solicit membership, I figured I'd just announce their existence. Why they didn't just ask, I'm not sure. I suppose they figured I'd have some sort of resentment. Well, no. Of course not. What I regret are the antics that resulted in me being forced to remove them from this site.
My priorities are always Family, Friends and work first. The hobbies fall way down on the list of priorities. If I find myself spending too much time fighting some weird war between sites, I guarantee they'll win. I've no interest in the battle and would sooner shut this site off instead. It stays up because of the wealth of historical content, that's about it. I've personally no interest in whether or not it stays up, but am doing so as my way of giving back to the community that helped me so much during my own 69 Cougar build.
Right or wrong, I can't have folks sticking me in the middle of their battles. Like all referee's, I've got to make decisions that are never popular and well, the only alternative is to shut the place down, which isn't the right thing to do.
So, for all you Classic Cougar enthusiasts, please go visit http://www.classiccougar.net. In the end, this is about the car, not the people, so the more websites there are, the better in my mind.
It's unfortunate that you can't see much without registering and that there's ample content bashing myself and mc.net in general. I understand Ray, Ken and some others being angry with me or others at mc.net, but I would encourage them to understand that it's exactly THAT negative content that has historically caused mc.net so many problems (As it does any internet forum).
They're obviously free to do whatever they like and so are you! If that's the right forum for you, please feel free to head on over!
They really don't need to worry about whether or not I've seen the site or it's content, I have and understand completely that they want/need to vent. I promise my feelings weren't hurt! :)
At the end of the day, I genuinely do hope it turns into a resource that's as valuable if not more so than mc.net and sincerely wish them the best of luck.
The more the merrier!
