So I was driving home from school on the interstate and my car felt like it missed for a quick second proceeded to drive another 100ft backfired 3 times and cut off. Had to get it towed home. I suspected my timing chain skipped or broke since i have replaced all electrical components. I took of...

I have a 68 XR7 that originally had a 4 barrell carb on it. the previous owner had the engine rebuilt and in the process lost the AC and the carb went from the orig 4 bbl to a 2 bbl. I had another post, but nobody replied, so I'll try again. I stripped the anodized layers off all nine pieces for my 67, sanded, polished and buffed and still not satisfied. Anyone know of a reputable re-anodizer who might give a break on the process, since I've done the big work? Or, anyone...
I have a space at the top of the outer ring on my steering wheel that's about 1/4 of an inch wide. Since it looks like that's where the two sides of the outer ring was originally connected, I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's had this problem. Has anyone else seen this and if so how did you...
Hi everyone, Trying to put on a new dash pad on my 68, it's not fully bolted down yet but I notice an odd gap above where the XR7 toggle switches (I think ??) would go, see pictures attached here. Is this gap normal ?, maybe the dash needs to relax a bit or something ? Just hoping I don't...
I have a 69 XR7, 351W 2 barrel all stock. 64,000 miles. Suddenly making lifter noise and hearing some noise in the bottom end, myself and both machanic buddies think it is wrist pin noise. Since the engine compartment is the last part of the car that needs work any way I have desided to pull the...
1968 Cougar 302. Two or three seasons ago I replaced everything with aftermarket items from Classic auto air. It's never been 'great' but this season I want to really dial it in. I recently had it purged, put a new expansion valve in, oiled and charged. The tech said he's getting good reading...

I need to know if the car will start if the nuetral safety switch is off the car. I have a new TCI sizzler and the thing came with a universal shifter linkage. Doesn't look like it will accept a NSS. Not enough room. Also- The 24 spline tranny secures to the flexplate with nuts to studs on the...

Does anyone have a nice copy of one of these decals? We would like to get this one reproduced, unfortunately we can't use this one. Too me, it is more attractive than the Car of the Year sticker. Much more colorful. I actually mean, does anyone have a spare glass with this decal?
Like the title says, this is another one of those “maddening vibration” threads! About a week ago I was driving my daily driver, ’68 standard Cougar when I suddenly noticed a periodic vibration that comes in at about 35-40 mph. and increases in frequency as the speed increases....

I purchased the Ignitor II from Pertronix, with the intention of getting upside down for about 20 minutes to splice into the ignition wire before the resistor wire. This appears to solve the problem. Anyone try it yet? http://www.pertronix.com/prod/new/details.aspx?ID=138 (By the way, of...

ok so I have a bit of play in my steering, I have checked all tierod ends balljoints etc. I tightened up the steering gear which helped but not as much as I would like. As I was looking under the car I noticed that where the steering box hooks to the tie rods there is a little sleeve type deal,...
