I just noticed that the necessary cables, etc that should run from the carb to the transmission for the kick down when passing etc are missing from my car. I guess that is whly it never downshifts when I punch it to pass someone...
I have a 2 bbl ona 302 model year 1968. I don't knw what parts I need to put this assembly back in place. I have looked on the WCCC site but the part that I see does not look like it is long enugh or have the necessary bends to get from "A" to "B". I wonder if anyone can help medetermine what I need to get the job done? Maybe someone has an extra set? Any help is much apprediated. I talked to a mechanic at a local restoration shop and he told me I needed to have these parts installed if I want to contine using the car on a regular basis or I risk doing damage to the transmission. This is something I would like to avoid if at all possible.
Thanks in advance to all who read and and can help with this post.

first off im pretty sure i have a timing issue , i was driving my car and i was sitting in it at the stop light and the engine sound was a mixture of louder and quieter almost like i was revving the engine , isnt that probably just the timing , if so hows the best way to fix it i have a timing gun but a basic one

Also , yesterday i took a fairly long drive with my car and it sounded great and so came back home and parked it , well today i replaced the battery and the lower and upper radiator hoses and went to start the car and it did start up but i had to pump it a few times and most times if i drove it the day before then the next day it will start up fine , well once it finally stayed the car was very rough and shaking alot more then usual , but i didnt have that problem yesterday so im not sure what happened

I just spoke with Kevin in Connecticut. Don Rush says he's their Cougar guy and knows what he's talking about. They literally had a Cougar up on a rack and had an exhaust guy build a system with the longer tail AND midpipes to fit just right..

Add in the OEM style muffler (although I'm pretty certain it has brackets that aren't exactly the right style, film at 11:00) and the system is pretty reasonable at 209.00 plus shipping.

http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...&CatKey=Cougar

This is pretty good news. It has been a long time coming..although not too many folks want "only" a 2" system, it's going to help those of us that want something pretty similar to factory specs.

:wave:Hi, ya' all!
The white Cougar I have has a 351ci Cleveland engine with a 2 barrel carburator. The tan interior is out of the car at this time. There are 2 fist size rust holes through the floorboard in the rear seat area. I wanted to fix the holes before I put the interior back in. The headliner will need replacing, it has been torn out. The car has about 10,000 miles on it since it was overhauled and repainted. The exterior paint and the black vinyl top is in good condition and was replaced about 10 years ago. The tranmission is a FMX (no problems as of yet). I've owned this car since 1994.
The brown Cougar is pretty much a parts car in my opinion. It is very rusty and has lots of dents. The interior is tan and is in fair-good condition. The engine is also a 351ci Cleveland with a 2 barrel carburator. The transmission has been converted from a FMX to a C6.
I'd love for both cars to go together but, it is up to you if you want both or one or the other.

I must sell both these cars due to long term unemployment.
Please, make me an offer!
After market stereo was installed/wired weird. Since removing stereo wires, car won't crank or start.
Also, car has Pertronix elect ignition, will this affect the original tachometer function; currently does'nt work; is connected as per wiring diagram for 68 XR7.

I just replaced a 10'' flyweel with a 11'' flywheel. The Lakewood bellhousing had provisional holes and metal removal for the changed starter position.
However when looking at the ring of teeth the ones from the 11'' flywheel were much closer to the saftey plate (between engine and bellhousing). Resulting in the starter cog being engaged always. I shimmed the whole starter about 3/8'' to remedy the situation and be able to drive home. Starter is FORD.

1] so does a 11'' flywheel actually need a different starter?
2] Since with the shim the starter flange does not fix the position anymore and it all comes down to the bolts. This will be harder on the two bolts clamping +shear), can I use this solution for a month (daily) without worries or should I fix asap

This is a freshly rebuilt and detailed C8AF-11001-A (1968 - 1970 428 CJ) starter with a very desirable 9A13C (January 13, 1969, third shift) date code. I've had it on a shelf since it was rebuilt, though I recently installed it on my car to make sure it works reliably (it has seen about 10 starts) and to check flywheel clearance on the drive end housing. The only thing about it that isn't perfect is the drive end housing (the aluminum piece that protects the drive gear) - it's an unmarked replacement that needed a little filing to properly clear the teeth on the flywheel ring gear.

The starter was rebuilt by Randy Jones of G&G Generators at a cost of about $200. I'm pretty sure I still have the receipt. I detailed it once I got it back, adding the paper gasket material under the band clamp and repainting black as needed.

Price is $600 by money order with domestic shipping included. I'll consider international shipping, but payment must be made in US currency (no international money orders that require currency conversion), actual shipping charges will be required, and customs fees are on you. This thing is heavy so don't even think about asking for inexpensive first class international shipping. I believe it will fit in a USPS priority mail large flat rate box.
